Our Research

At The Cutaneous Immunology Group, we are dedicated to advancing the understanding of immune responses in psoriasis and eczema. Our team of researchers utilises methods and data analysis techniques to identify mechanistic links between environmental, genetics and immune factors, as well as biomarkers for these disease.

We aim to improve diagnosis and treatment options for those suffering from eczema and psoriasis.

Activation of the Aryl Hydrocarbon Receptor Dampens the Severity of Inflammatory Skin Conditions

This paper identified the regulative role of the AhR transcription factor in skin homeostasis, its dysregulation can lead to numerous inflammatory skin diseases. By activating AhR ligands, inflamed skin can be managed, when AhR antagonists are prevalent this leads to increased skin inflammation. This paper was a breakthrough in understanding the beneficial function of AhR in the skin, formerly believed to be a negative molecule within the skin. This research highlights the preventative role of AhR in skin irritation.
